Before there was anything, there was nothingness. From that nothingness, from that silence, came divinity. First came water, and vast oceans persisted. Eventually, that water started moving and bubbling and out came a great serpent. The serpent was carrying Lord Vishnu on its back. Out from Lord Vishnu’s belly button emerged a lotus flower. And from that lotus flower came Lord Brahma, the ultimate Supreme Being. The genderless, divinity manifest, with four heads to see in all four directions.
